MKK BOSS REFLECTS ON INDIAN ADVENTURE
When Sussex seamer James Kirtley got on the plane to fly to India for the Twenty20 Champions League, his delight at being one of the first English county professionals to take part in the competition was only matched by his pride that the Sussex Sharks would be wearing cricket kit supplied by MKK, the teamwear supplier he jointly owns and manages.
It was a unique double for the entrepreneurial cricketer and despite the disappointment of missing out on a place in the second stage of the tournament, he remained proud of the success the team has enjoyed this year.
James said:
"Obviously, everyone is feeling very flat. We really didn't come close to performing at the levels that made us the best one day team in England this summer. However, it would be wrong to let this disappointment overshadow our overall achievements in 2009."
The MKK brand is also worn by the Middlesex Panthers, who were the domestic Twenty20 Champions in 2008.
James added:
"When it comes to the shorter formats of the game there must be something about teams sporting the MKK logo on their kit. Hopefully, we will see MKK back on an international stage in 2010 and preferably, it will be the Sussex Sharks who put it there!"
